As the mild breeze ruffled the hair of the anglers waiting to weigh their bags, Shon Childers and Rich Lockhart stayed to the rear, barely hiding smiles. And, for the second time in three months, Shon was the boater half of the winning team.

They managed to bring in a 14.83 booty in pretty challenging conditions. That "mild breeze" was actually a 25mph sustained wind that made any long run virtually impossible. The cold front that had passed during the night had made the bite tough. Although all the teams weighed a limit, most agreed that the fish were far between.

Originally scheduled for Celilo Park, the tournament was moved due to forecasts of 54mph gusts at The Dalles!

Finishing a distant second (more than 3 pounds lighter) was the team of George Allen and Mark Forbes. They delivered just under 12 pounds to the scale and finished less than a half pound ahead of Jim Miller and Chris Phillippe.

However, Jim put the biggest fish in the boat Sunday with a fine 4.70 pound soon-to-be momma. That also equals the biggest fish of the year, which Mike Creamer brought in last month.

All said, everyone had a great time, but everyone was exhausted from fighting the wind for 9 hours. The July tournament will launch from Swan Island on the 11th into what will hopefully be more calm conditions!

Shon Childers and Rich Lockhart took the win with nearly 15 pounds of bronze beauties.
